The current state of my floor as I work on finishing some signs for a friend’s wedding on Friday. Wish me speed as I kinda need to be done by tomorrow… and it’s already nearly midnight. ^^;;; I’m glad for the opportunity though, also good for me to be doing some art stuff again.

After his second battle with cancer my brother, Fred Clark Newlin III (but we always called him Juni), went Home to Heaven last Saturday (October 28). He’d just turned 20 in September. He was my best friend. My heart still aches, but I understand more and more now how the writer of the hymn “It Is Well With My Soul” was able to pen those words in the midst of his own loss. The lyrics I wrote here are to another song, “Even If” by MercyMe, that I have listened to a lot lately. Near the start of the song it says “Give me the strength to be able to sing / It is well with my soul”, and I was honestly sure I didn’t have that strength as weeks at the hospital turned into months and all too quick it went from going home tomorrow to "there’s nothing more we can do”. It has been a long and hard week, and another yet to come with the funeral services, but in the midst of this it IS well. | I am not sure yet when I will be back to drawing again, right now it seems easier to write. If the length of this didn’t scare you off I wrote more the other day that I’ve put into a post at http://blog.saranghaengbok.com/thoughts/ if you’d like to read. Took a break from calligraphy work and did some Bible reading before bed. “So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.” (1 Peter 1:6) - Been a long time since I’ve been home. Hated to leave my brother, but probably for the best that I take a break from staying at the hospital.

Still staying at the hospital keeping my brother from having to be stuck here alone. It is 47 days and counting now. We’ve got plenty of games to keep us busy though (and Netflix and VRV~) and my little Cinnamoroll Dal to give the room a touch of cute too~ (at Holtz Children’s Hospital)
